Scandinavian Shrink Pot Carving

Creating beautiful natural pots from greenwood, using the shrinkage of the tree as it dries out to create a sealed pot.

Working with the natural properties of green wood by hollowing out a section of branch. Carefully carving a base out of dried wood and using a technique so that as the greenwood dries it shrinks to fit the base. Traditionally carved in Eastern Europe and Scandinavia, this is an interesting introduction to green wood crafts.

"A really enjoyable day – very well paced. Superb friendly atmosphere making it a lovely way to learn. "

I just wanted to say how much I enjoyed the shrink pot carving course. Thank you to yourselves for organising and running the event. It was a well-paced course with plenty of clear instruction, in a lovely setting. I am so very happy with the final product and look forward to making some more down the line.

I really enjoyed the day and learning several new skills and being in touch with the wood. You’re a brilliant teacher.
Thank you for such a great day. I have never done anything like this before and I feel so proud of my wonderful shrink pot. You have such a beautiful work place and you made everyone feel included. I loved your relaxed teaching style and found the whole day very therapeutic.
A huge thank you from all of us for such a fantastic day - you are a great teacher and your passion shines through.

I just wanted to let you know how much Steve and I and the children enjoyed our two days in the woods with you. It was all and more than we hoped for and full credit to you both for having such a fantastic concept and creating it so beautifully. I wandered to walk this morning by the riverside looking at the trees and trying to see if I could recognise them - I'm certainly more aware but still have some way to go but hank you for what you did manage to teach me! Once again - thanks you so very very much!
