Woodshare Member event - firing our new charcoal kiln!

In the beautiful sunshine in stunning woodland members worked together to set up, stack and light the new kiln. There are various stages involved starting with the initial freeburn with huge amounts of smoke (see photo), then the lid settled nicely and it fired like a dream. We finally shut it down at 1030pm and snuggled in our sleeping bags under the stars. It really felt like we were part of an ancient cycle of woodland management and connecting with the resources around us.
